Vanishing shorts

Two weeks from today, on Feb 1, a number of my e-short stories will be coming down, vanishing, going underground (except, of course, if they’re already on your reader.) king_beeke_9780345529930_h-203x300These stories won’t be for sale again until Random House publishes my collection of Russell & Holmes tales in October (as an ebook, though possibly, eventually, as a print book as well. We don’t have a contract for that yet.)

The e-stories going out of, er, print (?) on February 1 are:

Mary’s Christmas

Mrs Hudson’s Case (Kindle, Nook, and other)

Beekeeping for Beginners

Cover-5-201x300My other self-published shorts won’t change: Mila’s Tale, The Mary Russell Companion, Laurie R. King’s Sherlock Holmes, My Thesis Being…, and Hellbender will all remain for sale as ebooks (and, in the case of the Sherlock Holmes essays, in print.)

      Why does Amazon tell me “Beekeeping for Beginners” is not available for purchase? I tried Kobo and they would like me to pay $2.99 when others ask .99c? I have some of the “shorts” but not all, love them!

        Hi Shirley, I’m not sure about this, either why Amazon is playing hard to get, or why you’re seeing it for sale for $.99 elsewhere. I’ll have people who are cleverer than I look into it, and get back to you.

        Are you sure you’re looking at “Beekeeping for Beginners” a short story by Laurie King, and not an actual how-to book on beekeeping? Try following the links from the blog post, which take you to the Random House site.

          After trying other alternatives, I did what I should have done in the first place – I went to Amazon.com.au which is where they recommend New Zealand purchasers go. Sure enough it was available and all is well. Thanks, Laurie, for many happy reading hours.

        Also you cannot make Amazon Kindle Ebook purchases from the Kindle App. You have to go through Amazon.com and then “have it sent to your device”. It seems somewhat odd how they do that…

          Whent He Kindle app first came out, you could make purchases. They changed it when the app was upgraded.
