The Ides of Trump

Okay, today’s Takeback Tuesday isn’t about donating to a Good Cause. This one is fun and communal.

Tomorrow is the Ides of March, a day Julius Caesar would have cause to remember. To celebrate a day that changed Roman history, tomorrow has been declared #TheIdesofTrump.

I’d like all of us to dig out a postcard–or stationery, if you want to get all formal–and send #45 a note telling him exactly how you feel. As the planners of this event say:

Wednesday, March 15th, each of us will mail the president a postcard that publicly expresses our opposition to him. And we, in vast numbers, from all corners of the world, will overwhelm him with his unpopularity and failure. We will show the media and the politicians what standing with him — and against us — means. And most importantly, we will bury the White House post office in pink slips, all informing DT that his time in office in limited and that we will reject any attempts he and his allies make to reduce our freedom to speak, pray, travel, educate our kids, obtain affordable health care, breathe clean air, and leave our grandchildren a habitable planet.

They add:

Hank Aaron currently holds the record for fan mail, having received 900,000 pieces in a year. We’re setting a new record: over a million pieces in a day, with not a single nice thing to say.

They can’t build a wall high enough to stop the mail.

On March 15th, mail your postcards to:

President Donald J. Trump

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Washington, DC 20500

Let us know what you’ve posted, and check out their web site here.

    Hey Zoe! *waves*

I can certainly write a postcard expressing my feelings in between shoveling out from the predicted 2 feet of snow today. Although those feelings may not fit on a postcard!

I am in. Don’t usually do this mail type protest, but this is a significant time in our country’s history and survival.

From what I’ve read, his handlers will intercept the mail and #45 will never hear about the outpouring of our displeasure. Still, maybe something will leak.

Pretty sure that my postcards( alone) to mitch the turtle man mcconnell have been responsible for the demise of at least two paper shredders and am hoping that I can say the same for our, ky. governors office. Will be sending out at least 5 per week as long as i can afford the postage. The white house has already received several from me. Resist and let your voice be heard.

We will never know what form civilizaction would have taken if more people had opposed Hitler in the early days. The Trump administration is moving so quickly to submerge the best of American values that it is not hard to predict what is coming if this government is not corralled. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to know what lasting harm to the environment will be unleashed by unfettered corporate greed. Persist/Resist!

Posting my card today, but from England, where I now live. So it will arrived a bit late. Persistence is crucial.

Posted a card: ‘You’re FIRED! Get out of the Peoples’ House. Such a loser!’ Mail carrier said it was the only one today. I’m in a red city, red county, and red state, but I sent my card.

Inspiring post. I have no expectation that mail matters to them, but hope it touches off an avalanche anyway. I was inspired to write my first letter ever (no postcard at hand) to an elected official.

Kudos for your thoughtful, to say nothing of useful, posts in this post-election period. As always, your voice is clear and creative, and I greatly appreciate the way it is helping me clarify my own jumbled ideas and feelings.

I wrote a postcard when I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night, and then decided it didn’t have enough room for me to tell him what I didn’t like about his actions, so I wrote four more. Hubby wrote one the next day and we mailed them all off on the 15th. Politicians keep track of what their constituents write about, but they prefer to receive only one subject per missive. LOL, that gives me a lot of postcards to write for the rest of the time he inhabits the White House. I am not stopping just because it isn’t the 15th anymore. And I really want something to be in my FBI file when I die.
