Kicking back

By coincidence, Lee Goldberghas just finished a book, too, and is cleaning his office. In the four days since I reached the end of TOUCHSTONE, I’ve cleaned my office, as well. Also written and sent off renovations for the web site to the techie marvel; put together a 1500-word article on Sabine Baring-Gould (the main character in THE MOOR) for the SB-G newsletter; pushed around some ideas for the short story I’m doing for Michael Connelly, which I’ll probably actually start writing on the plane to New York in ten days, assuming the person ahead of me doesn’t lie in my lap the whole time; made a list of Things To Do for the major site renovation next month; run out in the one non-rainy morning and do three hours of frantic weeding and planting; gone to San Jose (raining, a lovely drive over wet hills through mudslides) to the Big Stores for some things I’ve been needing for weeks; written about two dozen responses to fan letters; shifted a ton of stuff from closets to places closer to where they belong; thought about taxes (I take an extension most years); half-read the manuscript another writer asked me to look over; and laid out plans for a new promotional project.

This in addition to the everyday cooking, laundry, cleaning, and shopping chores.

It’s now Wednesday, and I really think I ought to get back to work before all this laziness just takes over.

    Hi Laurie,

I love the quote at the top of your blog. I found you by doing the “Next Blog” thing at the top of the page.

Check my Q&A blog called “The Big Question” at http://bigquestion2day.blogspot.com . If you get time, come answer a few questions (I post a new one each day). It’s cool to see all the answers from the diverse group of readers that visit. Since you write for a living, I’m sure you’d have good answers.

    Take care,

    Sublime

    Laurie,

Are you going to be doing any appearances while in New York? I didn’t see anything on your website but thought I would ask. Thanks!
