The LRK tour, virtual and real-life

Tuesday was Bay Area, with a 7:30 pickup by a limo and a transfer of LRK to the gentle ministrations of escort Dolores at the Books Inc in the West Portal area. Dolores is a long-time San Francisco escort, who knows all the streets, all the odd corners of parking, the best dim sun place that can get a hungry author in and out in forty minutes. With someone like Dolores, I can do in two hours what would take me four or five in driving myself. And at the end of it, I’m not biting the walls with frustration.Â

So: five drop-ins in San Francisco, two in Santa Rosa (an hour north,) and two events. Lunchtime readings at Stacey’s in downtown San

Francisco draw an interesting mix of financial district suits and homeless snoozers. Evening events at the great Book Passages in Corte Madera are more staid, but with the great pleasure of some writer friends, people I don’t see often enough.

You may have heard that it’s been raining, and rain in California guarantees small numbers at book events—weather wimps, all of us—but the audience makes up for its size in its enthusiasm.

And for the virtual tour, today I’m visiting my good friends the Lady Killers where we’re talking about research.

Well dry weather ahead Laurie..at least in California after our thrashing last week. How did those quivery Santa Cruz mts. hold up? Glad the book tour is going well! Laurie is right, something about the rain in California..makes people stay home..’I don’t want to go out in the rain’..uh? Also for some reason those that do go out often meet crazy drivers..who seem to relish speeding the slippery by-ways…another excuse to stay home..and maybe a valid one!

Glad to hear it is going well. They seem to know how to take care of ya in SF so that is good. Perhaps the rain and the accompanying fog, especially in SF, induces weather wimp-ism…which may be a good thing.

My best to you and your family and continued luck on your book tour!

    Laurie,

F.Y.I., the linking to Ladykillers isn’t working because there is an extra “http://” at the beginning of the linked address.

I finished reading “Touchstone” yesterday and I really loved it, especially getting to know Harris and Bennett. Not that I want you to take any time away from Mary Russell (my first love in your writing), but I would also be happy to see the Yank and the Brit come back again. Lovely work. Congratulations.
