One event that failed to make it onto my site’s events page is this Sunday at the Santa Cruz public library, a showing and discussion of the new video “Mysterious California†with the four of us who are in it. Two to four o’clock, or thereabouts, and if you’re in the area and not trapped by mudslides or fallen trees, come and join us!
And a thought for the day:
A prize-winning novelist has won a settlement of more than £100,000 after she claimed to have become so intoxicated by fumes from a nearby shoe factory that she was reduced to writing thrillers.
(That from Sarah Weinman).
I love the thought for the day!
Nice article about the prize-winning novelist (Joan Brady) in the Grauniad today. She’s blaming the Times for suggesting that the fumes ‘reduced’ her to thriller writing.
She’s quoted as saying “…what an insult in would be to thriller writers to suggest that you need to be stupid to write them. It seems to me so irritating that you would denigrate a remarkable genre where much of the best writing is done.”
