RIF is there, somewhere

I’ve written here about my fondness for RIF, the national Reading is FUNdamental program that gives books to kids.

Well, I see that there’s a nice program going on, of all places, at Macy’s. If you give them $3 as a RIF donation, they’ll pass all of that $3 over to RIF, and give you a discount of $10 off a $50 purchase. All of which sounds a bit like a shell game, but means that if you’re going in to buy something anyway, you can save $7 and make kids happy.

And if you’d like to see my RIF blog post, it’s at https://laurierking.com/wp.php/?p=455, and I would have linked you there but I gave in to my machine’s entreaties to accept the offered upgrade its system, even got up at one in the morning to start the process so it wouldn’t eat our daily allowance of satellite time, and in thanks it’s hidden the link button on Word Press.

    Laurie,

If I may, here is a link to the Macys program as each state has slightly different dates for the program.

I can easily spend that much at Macy’s in Connecticut getting a new shirt to wear to our B’con dinner so that I will look presentable. So you have one taker already…

Followup: I went to Macy’s yesterday and after a blank look on the face of the cashier, she recalled the RIF promotioni and took my $3.00 donation and gave me the coupon for $10 off of a purchase of $50 or more (that is good until 09/11/08). Macy’s is also doing a heart charity promotion, so you have to be clear about what you want to give your donation towards. Anyway, it all worked out well and I, instead of buying something for myself, found some things for some hard working and deserving webmistresses (here and over there at LOM) going to B’con as a thanks for their hard work and graciousness. That felt nice to do as well. Reading is fundamental, but so is giving thanks.

I hope more of you take advantage of the promotion.
