Paranormal, Sex & Culture

I’m still over at Bitten by Books this morning, if there’s something you just always wanted to ask LRK and didn’t have the chance.  And they’re giving away a bunch of books–great contests there.

And, a reminder that on Saturday I’m with Pam Houston,
Stacie Boschma, Sean Stewart,
Regina Lynn, and
Minal Hajratwala in San Francisco’s Make Out Room, raising money for the Center for Sex and Culture.  A side of LRK you perhaps haven’t seen…

Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about the seder I went to last night, and singing “Matzo, Matzo Man.”  Them Moroccan Sephardis really know how to party down at a seder.

(LRK: your full service writer.  Where else can you find Vampires, Sex & Culture, and an ancient Jewish ritual in one brief post?)

How could an appearance at the place called the Makeout Room NOT be about sex???? LOL. I guess the culture part comes in with the integrity and talent of the speakers.

As for it being a side we might not have seen before, we are all complex beings and our sexuality is a great part of that complexity, one way or another. If someone is shocked about that notion, then it might be good for them to think about it! IMHO, of course.

Paranormal, Sex, and Culture? Sounds like a course being offered in my department. Really it does! I just tottered over to BBB to drop a few words (and ask and embarrassingly silly question. No need to answer it. Here I would use strikethrough font if we had it).

Gosh I love that! The Make Out Room…I think the word needs more places called that! I’m sure they’re out there, I’ve just missed them in my small and medium town living.

It all sounds like great fun to me. And in celebration of Passover — have y’all seen the “facebook seder” at http://9a4440c5.fb.joyent.us/haggadah/ultraModern2.php? It’s hilarious . . .

Reading your blog this morning just made me smile, and quite unexpectedly laugh out loud. Only you could pull that combo off, Laurie. I had to post the whole blog piece over on LOM just to share it with everyone who isn’t following Mutterings (although how anyone would not want to read your wonderful posts is incomprehensible to me). Thanks for brightening my rather hectic day.
