End of the (US) Buzz

We’ve finished up with the 2010 online madness, Twenty Weeks of Buzz, with our grand finale at Poisoned Pen books in Scottsdale on Wednesday night.  I have one final event, next Tuesday at Bookshop Santa Cruz, and then it’s clear sailing until July and the UK.  I can write an entire book in seven weeks, can’t I?

So, who were the Big Winners in our Twenty Weeks?  (other than all of us, of course…)

National Library Week: a complete set of LRK hardbacks go to the Greenville County Public Library, in South Carolina.

Beekeeper’s Gallery Author’s Choice: from the art submitted to the various categories this year, the one that I personally loved and wanted to see on a t-shirt goes to: Bonnie Gladys for “Remnants”:

Indy Books: The winner of the Independent Bookseller Customer drawing, winning a copy of “Birth of a Green Man” for the customer and for the bookstore: Judith Greengard, who shopped at the excellent M is for Mystery books in San Mateo.

Heifer name a character: And (a roll of the drums, please) from among the donors to the Team LRK page of Heifer International, for whom we’ve raised just shy of $18,000 now, and who will become a character in next year’s Russell & Holmes novel Pirate King:  Lonnie Brown, of Seattle. Congratulations, Lonnie: you’re a pirate!

If you haven’t contributed your tuppence worth of opinion to the poll about our Twenty Weeks of Buzz, I’d be grateful if you did, over here.

Thank you for letting me know, and for playing along this spring.  And now, I think I’d better go get some work done!

It’s been a great 20 weeks. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. I really like “Remnants.” In looking at the enlarged art piece, I take the image at the upper left to be a pot of honey on a shelf and just below it a rose? for the bees? On the upper right a key is hanging, from what?

Below the honey pot is a fingerprint. and to the right, between the footprints and the violin, is a piece of chemistry equipment, a beaker mounted over a flame.

Thanks, Laurie. Now that you’ve pointed them out. They’re perfectly clear.

Technically speaking, the “beaker” in the lovely “Remnants” artwork is actually an Erlenmeyer flask – as I’m certain Sherlock would have reminded us.
