Russell & Holmes Days
Santa Cruz, Seattle, Bethesda, & Nashville: sites of our four Russell & Holmes Days for 2024, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Beekeeper’s Apprentice. The four events are coming together beautifully, thanks to my Event Maven, Breanna (bless you, Breanna!)—while I get to fill in an enticing variety of guest speakers for each event. And, we decided to leave out some of the hotel catering in order to reduce the cost, which I hope makes it more reachable for some of you.
Each of the four events will be different, but here’s an example of what a Russell & Holmes Day will look like:
- 9:30-10—Continental breakfast and getting settled
- 10-10:30—Laurie talks about Russell & Holmes & The Beekeeper’s Apprentice
- 10:30-11:30— Twenties clothing worn on all levels of society—including Mary Russell. (Haven’t you always wondered about the work of those “elves” of Russell’s?)
- 11:30-12:30—The Practical (and Philosophical) Art of Beekeeping, a demonstration and talk—with, yes, actual live bees!
- 12:30-1:30—lunch, with honey tasting
- 1:30-2:30—What’s with these Sherlockians, anyway? Laurie in conversation with a Baker Street Irregular. (Or perhaps someone involved in the Russell community)
- 2:30-3:30—Lockpicking for the amateur sleuth—hands on! Or maybe a knife-throwing demonstration—NOT hands-on!
- 3:30-4:30—Beekeeper Bingo—with prizes
- 4:30-5:00—Laurie Q&A, book signing, photos
We’ll recommend hotels, and help groups join up for dinner afterwards. There will be Prizes and swag/giveaways including special short story reprints, graphics printouts, exclusive Beekeeper book bags, etc. Seats are limited, so click on the date to register for:
