A soldier comes home

My soldier son is home, a civilian at last after 40 months in uniform. He survived Iraq, Afghanistan, Ranger training school, more jumps out of airplanes than a mother wants to know about, and the Army’s idiocy. His only scars are the invisible kind treated best by a full refrigerator, many paperback novels, and plans for the future that do not include weaponry.

    My heart took a giant thud at this entry. I have a son — I can only imagine. Bless you both and thank you both for service to our country. Now, on with the wedding. My congratulations to everyone over the happy event.

    Yes, thanks to your son for his service. Thanks to his Parents and sibling for their thought and prayers for him during this time. I’m so glad he is home for the wedding. Please tell him ‘Thanks from the bottom of my patriotic heart’~Praise God.

    My neighbor came home from Iraq about a year ago and the whole street had this little party. Hope your son is well.

    Laurie, I’m sure all of our collective appreciation of your son’s safe homecoming and your daughter and new son-in-law’s perfect wedding is only a faint candle flame compared to your relief, gratitude and joy. Nonetheless, I add my hooray and huzzah! to the general cheer. May Noel continue to enjoy stable health, and may you even have some breathing and playing space before the march to the next book presents itself!
