Week eight kicks off

While I try to get all my week’s clothes back into the suitcase and head from Maui to rainy CA, I thought you might enjoy a few things to keep you busy.

Week seven’s contest on the Fifteen Week’s of Bees was for a Russellism, some sharp and pithy saying that Miss Russell might have said, but hasn’t yet. With luck I’ll be able to include them in the next Russell, working title The Green Man. The list of Russellisms sent in is remarkable, testimony to readers with far too much time on their hands and who understand Miss Russell to a truly scary degree. Anyway, here are the winners.

For week eight, we have a trivia contest. Now, you might be thinking that anything LRK writes is trivia, but you’d be wrong: trivial, perhaps; trivia, no. The contest is here, and even if you don’t get them all right, you’re sure to do better than I.

Stay tuned for the last half of the Fifteen Weeks, with some of the greatest (and greatest prizes) left to come. Tried your hand at fan fiction yet? What about charging up your camera battery and giving us a YouTube video? (Not too many of those yet—you’d have a very good chance of winning a new hardcover of The Language of Bees.)

Finally, Miss Mary Russell, 109 years old and going strong, continues her enthralling saga of How I Came to Give the Russell Memoirs to Laurie King, over on her Myspace blog.

Wow! I’m over the moon. I don’t think I’ve ever won anything before. Thank you! It’s been such fun the last few weeks, so this is the icing on the cake.

And Chris, I’m so happy for you! Enjoy your well deserved prize – this is, I think, the best prize *ever* for the Fifteen Weeks of Beeks, because you will be one of the first people outside the insider circles to read “The Language of Bees”. It’s wonderful to see that you know to appreciate it!

Week 8 has kicked off, and I’ve already put in my entry for the trivia contest! I think I’ve given myself a bit of an advantage, though, as I’ve been making my way through all 8 of the current Russell books in preparation for the release of “The Language of Bees”. (Right now I have LANG on hold/pre-order at my library, and I’m the first one in line to get to read it once it comes in–I’m so excited!) I’ve just started reading JUST (no pun intended).
