Heifer International

I still can’t believe you guys contributed $10,000 to Heifer through the Team LRK page, and wanted to say, Thank you, again, for your support of this great organization.

And for those of you who found $60 a bit steep but would still really like one of those booklets on beekeeping by Sherlock Holmes, we’re now opening it up for you. Send Heifer a $10 donation through the Team LRK page (or $20 for two, and so on) and we’ll send you a copy of the booklet, signed–well, sorry, not by Holmes himself, but by yours truly. The quotes come out of the book with my name on it, after all.

I have a few hundred of these great little booklets, but when they’re gone, that’s all. A great cause, a unique little gift for any Sherlockian on your list…

Done! What on earth are you doing up at this hour anyway? Thanks for making the offer available to us. I hope TGM is going well, and that your suitcase is empty and put away for a few weeks at least.

Definite potential as an eBay collectible! Everybody needs to get on board!

These are fun handbooks – I love mine! I’m also in awe of an author who manages, in the course of writing a book, writes two other partial texts to go along with it!

    Laurie,

Okay, I just made an additional donation in your honor of $10.82 to Heifer. Why the $.82 at the end of my amount? Because the $.18 at the end of the donation total has been driving me batty for weeks now. Who donated an amount that ended in $.18 and why???? I just had to make it an even number again. Whew.

I’ve made a donation, and I’ll be submitting it to my company’s matching gift program so $20 will magically turn into $40! 🙂 I’ll also be making a donation in my mother’s name shortly.

What a wonderful idea, Heifer is a fantastic organisation.

HA! Marjorie, that is a riot. (Do you now get 82/100ths of a book? Hmmm.)

I had a big *DUH!* moment when I got back from the Ann Arbor book signing and didn’t think to bring my copy of the Holmes Handbook to get signed. BIG DUH.

We’ve already used up our Heifer Honey (so sad. BUT SO YUMMY!) in the latest batch of baking. Wonderful stuff. So glad we can keep the good going!!!

Sara, I didn’t donate only 82 cents! I went just over the $10 with this donation (to round out the grand total cents-wise), so I think I will be able to get one Handbook! Just one.

    [wink]

Believe me, I wish I could feel comfortable donating even more, but we had already done a donation to Reading is Fundamental in Laurie’s honor at B’con 2008. And the charity closest to my own heart, theatre person that I am, is Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and that is where most of my giving is really sent. If you want to know more about them, it’s http://www.bcefa.org

Hmm, I donated $60 firstly for a good cause, but secondly for the honey and Holmes book. Been over a month already and nothing. Who do I contact?

Hi, Rori! I was worried about the same thing: been over a month, no sign of Heifer honey or little book. Then, lo! in my email box a notice appears that honey & book are on their way. I think they are backlogged. hope it’s the same for you!//Meredith

This is a great idea–I’ll be giving my booklet to my sister, who just started a hive this spring.

Wow–the matching thing is a great idea! There are still a lot of companies that do that, even in these uncertain economic times. 😀

That is so funny, Marjorie! I’m glad you evened out the totals!
