The Art of Detection, real cheap

The Art of Detection is the book that links Inspector Kate Martinelli of the SFPD with the oddity that is the world of Sherlock Holmes.  It’s what happens when an editor wistfully reflects aloud that she would love to see what a meeting of Kate and Mary Russell would look like, which causes a wicked little seed to take root in a writer’s fevered brain and…cover_art_deception_homepbk1

Hilarity may or may not ensue, but poor Inspector Martinelli doesn’t know what she’s in for, that much is certain.

At any rate, the point of this post is to tell you that the ebook of The Art of Detection is having a special sale, for 99¢. So if you have friends who haven’t read the book, or if you’d like a copy for your e-reader, here’s your chance.  And yes, it’s for a limited time.

Thank you for letting us know. I have this one on my bookshelf, and now it is on my Kindle.

All should hasten to buy – this is a terrific book. I have to admit that when it was poised for relief, I really wondered how you were going to bring it off, Laurie, but as usual you came up trumps.

Thanks from a devoted Mary Russell fan. I’ll see what Martinelli is all about now that you’ve provided a Sherlock tie in at an “almost free” price.

Shucks! I bought my Kindle version a couple of years ago. Speaking of Kate, are we going to see any more Kate Martinelli books? Maybe it’s just me, but that book had an aura of farewell about it.

I hope to write another Martinelli, or two–but when, oh when?

I am a huge huge fan, but I just cannot get my head around Mary Russell. I respect that she’s well loved, especially by her creator. But there are so very many Mary Russells and so few others. Please please can we have a new Martinelli?

Hi Liz, sorry to leave Kate for so long, I’m very much hoping I can at least slip in a short story or two in the next year. I will try!

            Oh Laurie,

Even a short story would be a wonderful thing. You create characters that are so real and so dear, that a person can’t help wondering how they’re doing.

            Thanks so much!
            Liz

Either it’s an offer that works in US only or I was too late. But I only received the mutterings mail 4 hours ago 🙁

    • Laurie King on June 13, 2013 at 1:06 pm

Yes, I think it must be only the US, since my US publishers are behind it. I’ll see if I can get my UK publishers to do something too, later in the year.

I’ll opt for patience then – none of the links appears to work in Central Europe, not even amazon.com which tended to be the most flexible.

Thx for linking it to Proposition 8. We’ve just celebrated the first gay marriages in France.

I loved The Art of Detection when I read it several years ago. If I see it on my Nook for $.99, I will buy again. Rright now I see it for $7.99. I will keep you posted.
