Locking down Lockdown

My life at the moment is a barrage of emails from what seems like fourteen different Yahoo forums (forae?) that confuse me no end, since a reply will come in and I think it applies to discussion A and so I research and write out my comment only to realize that no, the subject line has to do with discussion B, and meantime forum C has woken up and they’re asking…

The Yahoo forums, and this:

Yep, it’s copyedit time chez LRK, those days when I go crosseyed over the adding and subtracting of commas and periods, when I frown at the page wondering what words I’d meant to put in that sentence, the days when I despair over my use of words like “back” (one paragraph uses the word three times—and it’s a short paragraph) and “towards” (yes, with the s, because after too many years of writing English-English I can no longer spell in American.)

And I’m worried, because…because (whisper this admission) I like this book. The final 50 pages make me incredibly happy, and I’m almost entirely pleased with the so-very-complicated pacing, and I love love some of the characters who came out of nowhere and started to talk to one another and…

And so there it is. Final tweaks and touches, and then off it goes to the typesetters to make into a book.

Lockdown. June 13. I can’t wait til you all see it.

This momma/grandma is doing a happy dance.
I am looking forward to this. I should have said ‘We are looking forward to this.’ My daughters and I discussed how sad we are going to be when, or if ,you ever quit writing. Your books are a highlight of the year for us. May you write many, many more Mrs. King!

It’s refreshing to find someone who still writes in English English rather than the horrid “text-speak” favoured by so many. Perhaps that is why your books do so well on both sides of the pond!
Looking forward to Lockdown here in the UK.

Four months and counting, Mrs K! Can’t wait to see what the US/UK cover designs and illustrations will look like, let alone reading this one. Very intrigued! (Is it know if it’s June 13th both sides of the pond…?)
