That is an amazing prize! I totally enjoy your books. Thanks for all your time, hard work and imagine that goes into each of them.

  4. Linda on May 11, 2018 at 1:04 pm

Love this series and am looking forward to rereading them over the summer.

  5. Karen on May 11, 2018 at 1:18 pm

‘Love this series, but up until now I’ve had to rely on my public library to access them. I hope this “contest”/giveaway will change that.:)

  6. Vickie on May 11, 2018 at 3:51 pm

Absolutely a favorite. I prefer to have them on audio format. But only a few are available and my library has even less. Would you consider a giveaway of your books on CDs?

    • Laurie King on May 11, 2018 at 10:36 pm

Good idea, we’ll look into it!

ready for ISLAND! have been rereading/re listening to previous Russell/Holmes to get ready…..finished with GOD OF THE HIVE and ready for PIRATE KING (one of my favorites) i always re read before a new release….helps me be patient!

    • Barbara Cloud on May 11, 2018 at 9:07 pm

That is so funny that Susan says she love Pirate King, as that is my LEAST favorite! In fact, I don’t have a favorite, now that I think of it. I absolutely love the series, it is so clever, original and of course, Sherlock is always so erudite!!! So very excited that a new book is coming out, I can’t wait!!

      • Laurie King on May 11, 2018 at 10:38 pm

Yes, Pirate King is one of those with a divided reception. Humor is such an individual thing…

        • Jack McKinney on May 14, 2018 at 10:53 pm

Reminds me of my favorite Gene Siskel quote: “Two things are not debatable: eroticism, and comedy. If you don’t think it’s sexy, or funny, there’s no way I can change your mind.” 🙂

  8. Mary Murphy on May 11, 2018 at 10:13 pm

What would I do without the Mary Russell series? Life would be dull indeed! I’ve been smitten from the start, and count the days until I can enter her world again. I even wandered the suks in Morocco and felt like I was transported into another time and place. I felt Mary there. Thank you for opening up my horizons and my world view!

  9. Laurie King on May 11, 2018 at 10:37 pm

So glad you’re all looking forward to the new book, and I hope you enjoy it hugely!

  10. Trish Dooling on May 12, 2018 at 7:54 am

For those with Holmes’ impatience for over-enthusiastic, emotional gushing, please skip this comment. 😉

I love, love, LOVE this series! I’m the volunteer who manages donated books at our local, rural Habitat ReStore. We get so many titles, I don’t have time to peruse, but just sort, price, alphabetize, then shelve. One day, I was drawn to a book cover with a honeycomb graphic, (and they say we shouldn’t judge books that way). 😉 After reading the description in The Beekeeper’s Apprentice, I took it home, stayed up all night, and read it until dawn. I haven’t done that with a book in a very long time.

I’m always so excited when a new LRK book comes in, so I can read it, then re-donate it with a “Staff Pick” sticky note.

I have filled my husband’s B&N online cart with the seven M. Russell titles I can’t find in regional libraries, so I can have a ‘Mary’ 55th birthday in July. (The closest bookstore to our backwoods location is nearly 60 miles away.)

Thank you Laurie King, for maintaining this blog, and sharing your gift of storytelling.
    -Trish

What a great giveaway. I have been a fan for a long time. Eagerly awaiting The Island of the Mad.

  13. Paricia Rose on May 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm

I was only introduced to your books a couple months ago, and I have read most of them: all the Russell and Holmes, all the Kate Martinelli, and several others……..I am anticipating withdrawal symptoms until the new one comes out! I love travel and history, so it is fascinating how you combine real history with vivid descriptions of various countries as the settings for clever sleuthing!
Thank you for making my spring!
Crossing all fingers for the contest!

    • Laurie King on May 12, 2018 at 2:02 pm

      Welcome to the LRK universe!

Just finished the jig saw puzzle. That was so fun! Thanks Laurie King for setting this up. I’ve forwarded the contest to all my friend s and family so hopefully they will participate as well

  15. Maurica Henry on May 12, 2018 at 3:49 pm

I so love Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes stories. They’ve been a wonderful world for me to turn to, to just forget my worries for a while and imagine what those experiences and places would be like.

    • Laurie King on May 14, 2018 at 9:20 am

      Escapism is good. Really good.
      Enjoy!
      Laurie

  16. Laura on May 12, 2018 at 7:54 pm

Have only just subscribed, I hope I’m not too late to join in the fun!

    • Laurie King on May 14, 2018 at 9:20 am

If you didn’t receive the newsletter Saturday, then watch for the announcement of the contest entry on the blog, which I’ll post this week.
      Good luck!
      Laurie

  17. Karen Buys on May 13, 2018 at 5:41 pm

Laurie – since I already own all your books both in hard copy and e-copy, it doesn’t seem really right to enter the contest. Could I enter on behalf of a library that needs donations? Do you or Zoe know of any in particular? I would love to have a chance to expand the Russellian universe as it were.

    • Laurie King on May 13, 2018 at 6:04 pm

Oh sure, you can choose your designated recipient for this.

Thank you for creating this special world and letting us visit it!

      Indeed!

  19. Shannon on May 18, 2018 at 5:08 pm

LOVE all the LRK books and have read them all, shared them with my husband and those of my kids who are bibliophiles, then passed them on to the prisons where many of our inmates also enjoy them (I am state superintendent fo correctional education so am “in and out of prison” on a regular basis.) I will never forget the delight I felt at discovering my first Mary Russell adventure and how wonderful it has been to branch out into the Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlockian “family” of scholars, fans, and stories galore! I always and especially appreciate the humor woven through much of your writing, and your willingness to take risks. Thank you for the hours and hours of pleasure and keep up the wonderful work!

    • Laurie King on May 18, 2018 at 10:21 pm

Shannon, thank you so much for this, I love the idea of having prisoners poring over Russell & Holmes! And your family, of course…
Hope you all enjoy Island of the Mad!
      Laurie

  20. Sandra on May 24, 2018 at 8:49 pm

I wonder if you might have seen my dear friend, Commissario Guido Brunetti when you were visiting Venice?

    • Laurie King on May 24, 2018 at 10:13 pm

I fear he was off on holiday, seeing as how Biennale was about to begin.

      • Sandra Estes on May 31, 2018 at 11:20 am

        O, here you are! (Smiles!)
& of course you’re right. Brunetti, Paola & the children are off to the Dolomites! Heaven!
