Picturing Japan

So many lovely images, when it comes to a book about Japan in the Twenties. Random House are having fun with it, designing cards for us to send to all our friends–January 13 ecard

–and today I opened a Pinterest page to go with the excerpts you’ve been reading. Today’s images are at the book’s beginnings, and will continue on to the ship, to Japan, and then to Oxford.

I hope you enjoy them.

I don’t like Pinterest . I went to the page but was not allowed peace to look at a single image. It kept honking in over everything with demands that I sign up or sign in.

Oh dear, I am sorry. Maybe not as convenient a site as I thought, for showing a book’s history.

Some time ago I posted to you about “The Wind Rises”, Hayao Miyazaki’s last film. I noticed today that the scenes depicting the 1923 earthquake are on YouTube. Can’t figure out how to copy and paste on a tablet though, so I can’t post a link for you! It is worth seeing.
