The monstrous regime

For the next two years, we will see a monstrous regiment of (three) women, Democrats from California, rising up to give nightmares to the boys in DC back rooms. Pelosi, Feinstein, and Boxer are savvy, they’ve got their agendas in line, and they’re fed up to here.

Time for the old Chinese curse: May life be interesting for the gentleman in the White House.

I’m sorry that this comment is wildly off topic, but I feel compelled to let you and other readers know — if they do not already — of a major development relating to your Mary Russell novel, “Justice.” On November 7, 2006, the British government agreed that all the soldiers executed in the First World War for military offenses should be given a posthumous conditional pardon. See http://www.shotatdawn.org.uk/. I feel sure your book played some role in adding to the public pressure for this long-overdue turnabout.

16 Senators are now women, 70 and counting in the House. Some, like Olympia Snowe, have been in the Senate a while and are a tad patrician. Some of the younger women, like Barbara Milkulski and Hilary Clinton, are smart and tough and can fight with the best of them. The new Madam Speaker will be every bit as tough. It’s taken a long time but we are finally coming into our own. And none too soon. I look to see the regime grow and grow.

Hey did anybody notice that someone is just two heartbeats from being president?
