Thursday thrills

Two exciting new projects in the LRK e-universe, at pretty opposite ends of some kind of spectrum: an app and a coloring book. The app is for iPhones, and you can get yours here. It’s still in its infancy, but I am assured that it will be Terribly Useful and will contain All Kinds of Stuff. Clearly, I am only nominally in charge of this.

The coloring book (should that be colouring book?) was inspired by Kim’s contribution to the Beekeeper’s Gallery contest, “An Evening at the American Colony.” Such a great idea, and if you all want to sharpen your quills and give me your visions, if we get one or two pictures from each title we could make us a nice book. Her picture and the instructions can be seen here.

And this week’s winners are Rachel in Palo Alto, who won an Advanced Reader Copy of The God of the Hive that she’s going to gloat over and use to cast Knowing Looks at all her friends, and Judy in Shenandoah, IA, who has herself a copy of “A Venomous Death.” Congratulations, ladies!

And the Twenty Weeks of Buzz buzzes on!

Which contests did those two winners win? The “open the newsletter”, art contest(s?) or word search? Or some combination thereof?

The ARC is drawn from those opening the newsletter (one more ARC, next month,) and this copy of the short story went to a Goodreads “friend.”

All of the artwork submitted has been quite impressive; Kim’s renderings shown on the VBC have been terrific visualizations of scenes from the Russell books! I hope the colouring book comes to fruition, we need to encourage these expressions of artistic talent. Great job everyone, and Kim, keep it comin’

I concur with John, the drawings we are seeing on the VBC are just wonderful. Congrats to Kim for getting the ball rolling.

I got so excited for a second when I saw “Rachel” and then went on to read “in Palo Alto.” 🙁

    Mary…Russell…coloring…book?

Holy freaking omigosh best idea ever. This MUST happen.
(Aw, poor Rachel who is not from Palo Alto – I hate those excited seconds that just crash into fiery disappointing deaths!)

Congrats on the app! Consider also making it available for Droids . . . or at least for those who use Google Apps . . . I use a lot of apps on my Droid, and look forward to people including the Google system as well as the i-system when they create these.
Love the new look of your website, Laurie. Congrats to you and the designer/artists.

I knew there was a reason I was craving an IPhone…
