Dreaming of e-cards

Whee–a third gorgeous card from your friends at Random House, who are getting pretty excited about Dreaming Spies. This one doesn’t make specific reference to any birthday, but we all know whose birthday it is today, don’t we?  That’s right: Happy 161st, Mr Holmes!

I noticed early this morning it was Sherlock’s birthday. I will celebrate tonight with champagne. When I was at the University of Louisville, I discovered a cache of Journals of the Baker Street Irregulars, donated by a member, and spent hours in the stacks reading them. One article I remember in particular was by a dentist who commented on the deplorable condition Holmes’ teeth must have been in, to lose a canine tooth in a fight. He attributed it to the excessive consumption of pipe tobacco . Anyway, Happy Birthday to Mr. Holmes and all his fans, and yours, too, Laurie.

    Happy Birthday, Sherlock Holmes.
    And many more.

I can’t wait for Dreaming Spies to come out … in eBook format! Oh, when will my longing be fulfilled?
    Please let it be soon.

February 17, simultaneous with the hardback (and, with luck, the audio)!

And my birthdate is Jan 6, 1945- just 70 years young, 60 of which I’ve been in love with Sherlock. And now, Mary Russell refuels my passion! Nothing less…
