Jane Steele: Reader, I murdered him.
|October 29, 2015|
We loves us some Lyndsay Faye here on Mutterings. Her Timothy Wilde trilogy has been one of my favorite worlds to explore in recent years, while the author herself has become one of my favorite people.
Lyndsay now has a new world, publishing next April: a deliciously wicked tale that starts as a riff on Jane Eyre and ends up redefining Victorian England as a whole. And since Lyndsay knows how much I love her books, she sent me two copies of the book, so I could share one. Lyndsay describes Jane Steele as Jane Eyre meets Darkly Dreaming Dexter.
Jane Steele: “Reader, I murdered him.”
Would you like a copy? Post a comment here before Monday midnight, and I’ll draw a winner.
This sounds absolutely fantastic!
Don’t know Lyndsay Faye so I’d love to try her out!
Yes, this looks great! That’s my favorite line from JE and made me fall in love with the book the first time I read it.
“Flirting is a woman’s trade, one must keep in practice.”
― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
I’m always up for a good read (which probably doesn’t need to be said, Laurie R. being my favorite author!)
So isn’t it great, on the eve of a cold Canadian winter, that Laurie herself would suggest my next few book choices! I’m off to the library!! It would be icing on the cake to win, but I’m thankful just to learn about a new author
Oh yes! This cross over I could get behind 🙂
I get gooseflesh just anticipating such a marriage! Dexter *and* Jane? Sigh, more sleepless nights to come…
Anything remotely related to Jane Eyre trips my romantic trigger. Love the idea of this! And especially love a new Laurie-recommended author!
April is too far away, so I send a plea to the God of Drawings! Can’t wait for The murder of Mary Russell, either!
I’m always on the look out for new books…Thanks for the recommendation!
I am way more excited for this than any other book releasing in the next year. WTG, Lyndsay!
I had the privilege of reading this in ARC form – it’s fantastic, and I speak as one who has loved “Jane Eyre” since I was fourteen!
Two of my favorites in one blog post?? Can’t wait to read this one! I hope Jane helps me recover from the end of Timothy’s awesome trilogy.
I’m in! It is always fun to try a new author.
Would love to try a new author (to me).
Thanks for letting us know. I’m always looking for a good author and this one sounds great.
Can’t wait to read this! Love the cover.
Intriguing–I’ll have to give it a read!
Darkly dreaming Dexter?? Laughed so hard I spewed coffee on the screen, but I loved Jane Eyre and would love to read her take!
Thank you, Laurie, for two new series to read by Lyndsay Faye. Need to keep busy until The Murder of Mary Russell (by you-know-who) appears!
Oh,YES, please!
Pick me. Pick me. This sounds fabulous!!!
I loved the Wilde brothers, the other characters, the tension/excitement of the plots of L. Faye’s trilogy. It would be great to read her newest book early. I don’t want to wait months. Thanks for the chance.
It’s always so great to get a recommendation of another great author to read!
I always love to get on to another great read!
I don’t know Lyndsay Faye, so thanks for the recommendation. A story that “starts” as a riff on Jane Eyre should go somewhere interesting. A story that “redefines Victorian England” is irresistible.
I’d like one!
Love recommendations for new reads that take me into my favorite realms, with some of my favorite literary characters and new heroes and heroines, too.
I LOVE finding new authors and exploring their style of storytelling!
I was so lucky to get to read an ARC of this amazing new book from Lyndsay. It will surpass any expectations you have for it. Brilliant! I sadly don’t get to keep the ARC, so I’d love to win one here so that I can go back and put in my post-it tabs while it’s all fresh in my mind. Of course, I doubt it will ever much leave my mind.
This is awesome. I would LOVE to get a copy of this book!!
I haven’t read this author, so I am happy to get this suggestion. I would also be happy to get her book. 🙂
Regards,
Eunice Merideth
I would love a copy!
I can’t wait to read this!
Even a cereal box would have great appeal to read if recommended by the talented Laurie King. Life is too short to read bad writing.
I’ll go check out Dexter – haven’t read this or anything from Faye.
Okay, another author to add to my ever-growing list. People in the bldg where I live sometimes ask me why I don’t watch TV. Because the pictures in my unillustrated books are so much better, the sound tracks so superior…
Wonderful – I’m adding yet another new author to my Must-Read lists! How have I missed her-?
Cheers from Canada.
Lyndsey is wonderful–and a heck of a fun person to hang out with. Just the idea of this book has me clapping my hands in glee. I’d love a copy!
I love fractured classic stories like this! One can never have too much Jane Eyre 🙂
Please put my name in the proverbial hat – I’d love to get to read this early!
I loved the Timothy Wilde books! I picked up the first one, “Gods of Gotham,” after you recommended it at a book signing held at Mysterious Galaxy here in San Diego. Thank you for introducing me to her work. I’d love to read her new book! 😉
Yes, please! I love the Timothy Wilde books and am so, so excited about Jane Steele!
What a delicious idea! Mousy Jane mixed in with Dexter. Can’t wait to see what she does with such a character!
Virtual fist bump for this recommendation! It’s right up my alley!
The Timothy Wilde series is one of my favorites! Ive also read “Dust and Shadow” which is equally amazing!! Ms Faye has such a talent for developing characters and bring them to life. I am so looking forward to reading this book!
I’d love to have this!
Does this give-away work for France ?
I presently am reading “Le Dieu de New York” (aka The Gods of Gotham) in French. such a great book ! I love New-York and the descriptions are so “alive”
Sure, I can send it anywhere–good luck!
I love Lindsay Faye’s books – the Timothy Wilde series and the Sherlock Holmes book Dust and Shadow. I’d love to read her take on Jane Eyre.
Fingers crossed that I don’t have to wait until next year to read this book!
Always interested to hear about a new (to me) author. Thanks!
I so dearly would love a copy of this! As an academic who studies the history of crime fiction, I’m very excited by this “mashup”!
Me oh my, I would love a copy!
LOVE Lyndsay’s books…can’t wait for the next one!
How delightful to hear of a new author recommended by “the best”.
What a wonderful find. I can’t wait to meet Lindsay Faye.
I have not read Lyndsay’s books but she is on my TBR list. I know if you love her books I will too. I’d love to read “Jane Steele”. I even promise a review on Goodreads and Amazon.
I had never heard of her…can’t wait to try one of her books. Thanks!
I loved the Timothy Wilde series, and was sad to see it end. Great writing, and I’m excited and happy to hear Lyndsay Faye is bringing us some more fabulous stories!
I loved her take on Sherlock Holmes, so it would be interesting to see what she does with Jane Eyre. I loved her Timothy Wilde serie, so I’m sure she won’t disappoint!
I have known Lindsay since she was a young(er) actress here in the Bay Area, and have been a HUGE fan of her books!!
Sounds intriguing.
I’ve not yet read any of her works, and this sounds like a great place to start!
I am always interested in a new author. That’s how I found you!
This sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for doing this.
I’d love a copy!
I love the Timothy Wild series and can’t wait to read this new book!
Just finished the Timothy WIlde trilogy and I’m in a Lindsay Faye induced mind vaccuum. I need Jane Steele to get me through the long, lonely Oklahoma winter. I’m not sure I’ll make it to April otherwise.
Pick me! Pick me!
I’m always up for a new take on Jane Eyre!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Timothy Wilde trilogy and only wish there were to be more than three. I am looking forward to the new series. Jane Eyre was the first “adult” novel I read, and I have reread it numerous times. It will be interesting to see what Jane will be like in Lindsay’s hands!
Would love to read this! Thanks!
If Laurie loves this author, that is good enough for me!
I can’t wait to read this great sounding recommendation.
Thanks for calling my attention to another talented writer. Am looking forward to checking out Faye’s Wilde series.
This sounds fantastic.
This sounds delightful! I’d love a copy.
I’ve really enjoyed the Timothy Wilde trilogy, excited to check out a new series!
I have loved each of the Timothy Wilde novels, but especially the first. Each time I meet a new favorite character, I want to tell everyone I know!
I’m always interested in good books
Is it too late to enter the drawing? Book sound really interesting.
Not too late–you’re entered now!
The only way to make the combination of Lyndsay Faye and Jane Eyre better would be to include Laurie. Victorian England? New twist on classic literature? Dexter? And my own maiden name (Steele)? You made my day. Can’t wait!!!!
I loved all Faye’s other novels! I recommend her to all my library patrons who love historical mysteries. Very excited about her latest book. Can’t wait to read it!
Always on the lookout for a really good writer – a recommendation from one of my favorite writers makes me truly happy! My local library (small) is failing me these days…
