The craft of crime

One of my favorite of the year’s mystery get-togethers is not a fan conference (although I love BoucherCon, and Left Coast Crime, and…) but one on the craft of writing.

UnknownThe Book Passage conference has a great track record with getting new writers published, and it’s a great place to meet your community, both in classes and in chats over coffee, breakfast, you have it.

I don’t participate every year, but this year I am, and I’ll be doing several events:

Thursday, July 28th

7:30 pm – Headline event (Jackie Winspear interviewing me)

Friday, July 29th

Writing Intensive: Character

What’s That Sound? Creating, Maintaining, And Intensifying Tension

Saturday, July 30th

Revision: Writing is Rewriting

Sunday, July 31st

Writing Intensive: Putting it in Perspective – How POV Shapes Your Story

Hope you join us, I think they still have a few places left. Take a look at the list of other great writers, here.

Oh, nothing, just casually going to mention *I’m* the headline event interviewed by my pal Jackie (Winspear, omg). No big deal. Gah.

Since i can’t be there and tell you (fangirl fashion) in person – You’re amazing, I so admire your work and work product. I’m in the child-rearing stage of life, complete with one on the autism spectrum and my youngest only 5 months (breastfeeding, we’re inseparable, the darlingest fat baby). So your work product is slightly more valuable to me at present, a getaway. That work itself, the dedication, the craft, the conferences, well, it will come. I glean what I can from you now and perhaps one day sit will at your feet. Or buy you a drink. As one does.

Please consider linking us up to any audio files or transcripts might come out of this conference!

I don’t think they do audio but if they have them this year, I’ll post about it. Enjoy your kids, and I hope (as a former La Leche League leader) you’ve mastered the art of turning pages while breastfeeding.

Yes indeed, and sometimes I’m nice enough to slow down and read excerpts aloud – we both enjoyed The Murder Of Mary Russell!
