The male romance novel

Guest blogger Elaine Viets over at The Lipstick Chronicles has a superb post on the subject of the male romance novel. I’m not even going to give a synopsis of her essay because you need to read it where it stands. Very perceptive lady, Ms. Viets.

Elaine’s column is great. If anyone hasn’t checked it out they really should. And lots of the earlier columns will be of interest. Its a great website.

Elaine Viets is right on target and pinpoints one of several reasons why I stopped reading male romance novels long ago. As one of the commentators pointed out, she did forget the “ice maiden hiding a passionate heart”; she also left out the “otherwise very competent woman who is so grateful to let the man take over”. But the point was beautifully made and deserves to be shouted from the mountaintops . . .
