The Art of Detection

THE ART OF DETECTION, a Kate Martinelli mystery (with Sherlock Holmes) will be published early next June.

(I could have given names to an entire nursery full of infants with less effort than this one book.)

And if you’re going to BoucherCon the end of next week, you can bid to be a character in the book.

    Kate Martinelli *with* Sherlock Holmes?

Loved Locked Rooms, by the way.

Oh, how I wish I could be there — ever thought about on-line bidding?? 🙂

Great title; it will be a long wait until June!

Wait, hang on, clarify… the next book has Sherlock Holmes involved??!! Should I be as excited as I am or did i simply confuse my false hope with reality?

    Dude..that is an awesome title!

And Holmes?! I can’t even begin to think how you incorporated Holmes. So exciting!

*sigh* And the new countdown begins.

    Dear Laurie,
I admit to being more of a Russell fan than a Martinelli fan, but now I am going to read all the Martinelli books to be ready for The Art of Detection. I can’t wait to read the surprises you put in it. The title is great because it makes me want to read the book without knowing anything else; just what a good title should do.

Great title. I’m intrigued by the combination of characters and how you’ve written it.

Great news!! But, echoing above, *sigh*, ten months’ countdown…!
I can’t wait. Predictably, I’m going to ask if the sibling edition will be out in the UK at the same time and with the same publisher as the last two Russells?

I will try and find time to re-read all of the Martinellis between now and June, then I’m in KM mode for The Art of Detection!

    All the best

Yay!!! Huzzah!! I am incredibly excited. Not only will there be a worthwhile book to read at camp next summer (I am a counselor and constantly bemoan the lack of worthwhile reading for on breaks) but it will be from my favourite author as well!

I second Jennifer Ice’s comment. I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on the Martinelli series before the new book comes out. How very intriguing – Sherlock Holmes / Kate Martinelli. Hmm, you’ve got me curious now.
And, the title is great. Titles are something that I struggle with too. Odd, that. One would think that after spending all of that time & effort writing something, the title would come fairly easily.
Keep up the good work; we certainly appreciate all of your effort!

Yoicks! was Holmes’ original book (which he wrote on his own, one presumes! perhaps with Russell’s help) The Whole Art of Detection, or am I muddling it up with something else? (and so irritating that you can’t underline properly). I was going to get my hands on This book immediately (ASAP) anyway, this definitely whets the appetite. What a joy. How I wish I could rationalize a trip to Chicago over the dreaded Labor Day; perhaps Bouchercon in a year or two. May I second the idea about online participation? Quite impractical, I fear.
On a concrete note, the last newsletter I received was in early June, have I missed some? thanks –Meredith T.

If you’re not going to Bouchercon, and you want to bid on being a character in a book, you might wanna take a look at the First Amendment Project auctions coming up on E-Bay. Apparently you only get to die in a Stephen King novel if you’re female, though.

    Eeeee!

I will have to find a way to get to the con. *grins*

Oh, man! Very very clever title. Your response to my question (about the next Martinelli) at the Cody’s Books signing gains a whole new dimension. 😀

Sherlock Holmes and Kate Martinelli–now that is a combination totally unexpected and clearly worth waiting for.

    I can hardly wait.

    **doing the happy dance**
