A kingdom united

My readers in the UK may be pleased to hear that, beginning with THE ART OF DETECTION on August 22 and picking up a fair number of the backlist along the way, I will be published by Poisoned Pen Press U.K. I’e2’80’99m really looking forward to working with them, not only because they’e2’80’99re great people (Yes I know the truism that you shouldn’e2’80’99t form business relationships with friends, but friendship with agents and editors seems to work for me.) but also because they have an exciting take on how the publishing world works, namely, that if you publish books people want to read, you may actually sell those books. God, is this a radical idea or what?

As I said, THE ART OF DETECTION should be out in the UK around August 22, and they’e2’80’99ll be bringing out THE BEEKEEPER’e2’80’99S APPRENTICE and A GRAVE TALENT as paperback reprints soon as well. AND (roll of drums, please) there’e2’80’99s a good chance I’e2’80’99ll be there for a tour, perhaps the first part of September.

I am very much looking forward to this new relationship, which will finally see books available to UK readers other than by mail from the US. I’e2’80’99ll have more to say about it later, and I’e2’80’99ll post the cover art on my web site when it reaches me, but in the meantime, if you’e2’80’99re interested in the Press, take a look at their web site. It’e2’80’99s mostly about their American branch, but it tells you something about my new home.

So, see you in September!

Laurie … Congratulations on the new venue for your excellent novels. I was very excited to have one of my iris articles published in the UK earlier this year, so I have some small understanding of your delight in a new group of potential readers. Iris Lady (or in this instance, Lady Iris of Laughingstock)

    Hooray!!!!!

Thanks for confirming the rumours (well, actually, your chum VmcD answered a query on her Forum I’d snuck in with!), I am delighted that you are to have such illustrious new publishing partners in the UK. Cannot wait until August, though, so will buy both the US edition to curb my impatience and then the UK edition to keep the continuity going. Please come back to Edinburgh on your tour, you would be so welcome – but if you don’t, I’ll hop on a train to wherever, if I can…

I am delighted that all of your books are to given a new lease of life in the UK, too, as they deserve it – quality, literary mysteries should be the backbone of our crime-buying!

Very best of luck with the new venture on this side of the water.

    Chris

Sorry this doesn’t relate to your post, but I’m dying for more Mary Russell novels! Are you planning on writing anymore?
