Winners, and A Case in Correspondence: Week Thirteen

The winners of this week’s contests are…

For last week’s puzzle contest, Marc B. won the prize, a mini-broadside of “A Venomous Death.” Send in your solution to this week’s puzzle for your chance to win!

Shawn S. won this week’s Goodreads drawing.

Over at the Virtual Book Club, we had quite a few winners this week. Sheri K. won an ARC of The God of the Hive, and AGee, nkk1969, LaideeMarjorie, and Elizabeth Cornwall all won new copies of In the Dead of Winter by Abbey Pen Baker (the VBC April discussion.)

And last but not least, Jaime M. Tweeted her way to a prize this week as well.

There are many ways to win, so keep an eye on my internet venues during the Twenty Weeks of Buzz for your chance to do so, and make sure you are signed up to receive this week’s newsletter. One lucky reader will win an ARC of The God of the Hive!

In the meantime, you can head over to Mary Russell’s MySpace page for this week’s episode of “A Case in Correspondence,” which will appear there Wednesdays throughout our Twenty Weeks of Buzz. This week you will find them here at Mutterings tomorrow, Thursday, as I will be discussing the third and final excerpt from The God of the Hive this Friday.

So there I was, feeling as though the comment in the Times (Case in Correspondence) rang a bell. Off I went to Google and voila! Holmes must really love having the web for information at one’s swift command. And what would Russell do? and what will the postcard look like!?? 🙂 Meredith

p.s. Congrats to all the winners!!

But Meredith, doesn’t it say this week’s missive is from “The Times” announcement column? So I’m thinking no postcard.

    Congratulations to all the winners.

Speaking of Oxford (we were, weren’t we??) what college did Mary Russell attend (can’t get to the books right now …)?

La Donna, if I remember correctly, we are never told which of the possible colleges is Russell’s – I know someone will correct me if I’m wrong! Of course some are eliminated because they didn’t yet exist when Russell matriculated.

Well, hmmm, it would have to be Somerville, St. Hugh’s, or St. Hilda’s wouldn’t it? And she couldn’t have gotten a degree until 1920 or so because Oxford didn’t grant women degrees until somewhere in there. I’ll have to investigate.
