Don we now our Garment of Shadows!
At last, the day we’ve been waiting for since…well, the last pub day: That’s right, today’s the release day for Garment of Shadows. I hope some of you will be at the Scottsdale launch party tonight, although if you’re in a different time zone, you can log on here to participate in everything except the taste of the hummus.
And since I’m sure all of you who aren’t waiting for me to sign a book for you in Scottsdale tonight will want to rush out to your local bookseller when they open, I won’t set any more words in front of you. But in case you’d like a few more images, how about some that move?

And what about the man on the French side of the border, that fellow with some unexpected connections to Sherlock Holmes, Marechal Hubert Lyautey? He’s here, in scenes filmed just weeks after the close of Garment of Shadows.

Finished. Absolutely dead brilliant. As usual. Now to reread it and savor each scene.
Loved it. Raced through it immediately upon reception; will reread (as I have many of MRH’s memoirs) until the cyberspine falls asunder. Will it be recorded for Audible?
I got it on E-book so I can make the words larger –hard to read the little print anymore, but I really want to know if we have a date for the audible books. Jenny Sterlin is one of the best readers ever! I look forward to hearing Mary’s new adventure!
I am really enjoying “Garment of Shadows”. I will see at the May Bethesda book fair. I have signed up to volunteer one day and pay one day.
One bizarre note: previewing the images with snippets of the book gave me a sense of déjà vu as I read. It felt eerily like Russell’s description of her amnesia. Was this intentional?
I enjoyed reading this latest volume of the the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series. I loved that Mary has become so efficient at “spying” and detecting all on her own, in spite of her physical injuries (which just seem to keep multiplying) and amnesia. I love how physically and mentally capable she is.
However, I would like to have seen more of Holmes in this story, fewer history lessons (though this was an intriguing part of history that was totally new for me.) I am somewhat tired of the Arabic/muslim/islam theme. And some of the plot points went right over my head. I am still not quite sure what happened, but do know it turned out alright for the main characters…. Yet, I could not stop reading, because I wanted to see how Mary would get out of each predicament in which she found herself. She truly is the heroine of the book, as she saves both Mahmoud and Holmes.
I hope this is not the last book in the series, as I would like see Holmes and Russell at home again in Sussex solving a less international case and Russell resolving her conflicts with Mycroft. I do not like seeing Mycroft kind of “villainized” in this last book.
Overall, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series and have read all of the books in less than year.
Please write more, Ms. King and put Holmes and Russell back in England with a delicious new mystery to solve.
